Banana Split Smoothie

I’m going to immediately answer the question I would be dying to ask if I saw a picture of this smoothie. No, you do not have to rinse out the blender or use multiple blenders for this layered smoothie. I wouldn’t do that to you (or me)- don’t worry, I got your back.

Now that we’ve got that part out of the way… let’s talk about this fun and delicious banana split in a glass!

Banana splits just scream fun, light-hearted…… and loads of extra added sugars. Fortunately this one relies on the sweetness of ripe and frozen fruit, without the need for the standard syrups and sauces one might find on a banana split!

Layered smoothies do take a few extra minutes, but as mentioned above- no frequent rinses required for this one! Basically, by creating layers from lightest on bottom to darkest on top, you don’t have to clean your blender…except when you’re done.. you should always clean your blender then ;).

The ingredients are simple in this recipe and if you haven’t made a layered smoothie before, this is a great first recipe to get your feet wet. It’s also a great recipe to get the kids involved in!

Here’s the layer breakdown:

Bottom = banana plus your favorite frozen yellow fruit (mango, pineapple or more banana works great!)
Middle = Strawberry
Top = Chocolate (cacoa powder blended with more strawberry + banana)

KISS Tip: Skip the layer making if you’re short on time and throw all the ingredients in the blender, then make a smoothie bowl with fun toppings like coconut, chopped nuts, fresh fruit slices or chocolate chips!
