Easy Ways to Nourish New Moms!

Postpartum nutrition can often be tricky because new moms (and the whole family) are exhausted! Preaching to the choir? So even if you know what you need, do you have the energy to make it happen? So if you’ve got just a few minutes (these are super fast recipes!) or want to help a new mom out, here are some easy and delicious ways to nourish mom. And if you’re a breastfeeding mom, these recipes are especially perfect for you!

Vegan Chocolate Banana Lactation Cookie Bars

Lactation cookies are the perfect way to nourish mom while also providing healthy ingredients like flax seeds, oats and Brewer’s yeast that can help boost breast milk supply! And even if you’re not breastfeeding, these are still packed with nutrition and delicious- the perfect snack to keep you going through your day. PLUS you can make all the batter in a blender or food processor so you’ll be hard pressed to find a recipe easier than this one. Maybe even Dad could do it ;). Click here for the recipe!

Smoothies are a great way to accomplish hydration and nutrition for new mommas. Hydration is crucial in the postpartum period and when breastfeeding, so liquid nutrition can be a huge help. This postpartum smoothie has avocado, kiwifruit, Vega plant based Protein + Veggies powder, banana and almond/coconut milk- it’s creamy, nourishing goodness in a glass.

To make one postpartum smoothie, add 1 kiwi, 1/4 of a large avocado (or half a small one), 1 small frozen banana, 1 scoop Vega Protein + Veggies Vanilla protein powder (or your favorite protein powder) and 8oz Almond/Coconut milk to your Vitamix or blender. Blend until smooth and enjoy!

Like I mentioned in the lactation recipe– oats and ground flaxseed are healthy ingredients that can potentially help boost your milk supply. Although it doesn’t work for all mommas, the ingredients are still healthy, so why not up your intake? Overnight oats is an easy way to make several servings of oatmeal that will last a few days, and these Peachy Keen Overnight Oats also have Greek yogurt in them so mom gets some extra protein!
